Understand spend

Business and unit economics

What each feature, customer and user cost, beside the calls they made, and gross margin by customer.

Business sets the cost of each feature, customer and user beside what your usage data counted for them. Find it under Business in the sidebar.

Unit economics

  • Cost per call: the month's whole spend over every call your usage data counted.
  • Cost per active user: the month's whole spend over the users your usage data named.

Both need usage data. Until it arrives, Home and Business say so instead of showing a figure.

Features, customers and users

Each owner's spend is the same figure Explore shows for it, on every basis: what tags, named owners, allocation rules, Kubernetes clusters and usage data explain. Beside it:

  • Features: the calls made in the feature, the customers they were for, and the cost per customer.
  • Customers: their calls, and the cost per call.
  • Users: their calls, and the feature and provider most of them went to.

Spend that names no owner on a dimension is stated below that dimension's table. It is never added to an owner's total.

Revenue and margin

Once Stripe is connected, Customers also shows each customer's revenue, cost and gross margin, and Home shows the month's gross margin.
